Face and Body Coffee Scrub Benefits
Coffee is one of the cheapest and most natural ways to exfoliate your skin. With its grainy texture and natural health benefits, it makes it the perfect coffee face and body scrub.
A coffee grind exfoliator is used to:
- Remove dead skin cells and bring out the new fresh skin below
- Add a glowing baby soft texture to your skin
- Give an energy boost as the caffeine in the coffee scrub soaks through your skin
- Help with circulation
- Help your lotion to fully hydrate the skin
What skin type should use a coffee grounds exfoliator?
DRY SKIN – For those who have dry skin a coffee face and body scrub is a must. It’s best to use it once a week, to remove any unwanted dry patches. Even if you have combination or oily skin it’s still good to use a coffee grounds exfoliator once a week.
COMBINATION AND OILY SKIN – For those who have combination and oily skin with clogged pores, use a coffee exfoliator to remove the dead skin that is still sitting on the surface of the skin. Both combination and oily skin produce more dead skin cells than dry skin. These dead skin cells stick to the skin and cause acne and hair follicles.
That’s Coffee’s Coffee Grind Exfoliator Recipe
Here is just one coffee face and body scrub recipe we’ve put together at That’s Coffee so you can make your own exfoliator from our coffee grounds!
Ingredients:
3 Tbsp moist coffee grounds
1 Tbsp Olive Oil (I sometimes use grapeseed or sunflower seed oil)
1/3 Tbsp honey
Instructions:
- In a bowl add brewed coffee grounds. Make sure they are still moist. It doesn’t matter what kind of coffee grounds (ex. Light, Medium, or Dark roast)
- Add olive oil and honey.
- Mix together then let sit for about 5-10 minutes.
I sometimes put it in the fridge because that’s what they do at the spa, but it’s not necessary.
Variation:
Another option for both oily and dry skin is to mix 1 Tbsp coffee grounds from freshly brewed coffee with 1 Tablespoon of plain yogurt. Gently massage your face for 1-2 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
For those with very dry skin, make a similar scrub but substitute cream for the yogurt.
